About Ian

Ian Wishart is a journalist currently working in Brussels reporting on business and economics for European Voice.

He was born in Watford, in England, and graduated from Aston University, Birmingham, in French and German before studying for a postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.

Between 2006 and 2010 he was education correspondent of the
Leicester Mercury
. Prior to that he covered education and general news for the Worcester News and Neath Guardian.

He was shortlisted for UK Regional Education Journalist of the Year award in 2009 for his coverage of the challenges facing schools in Leicestershire and was shortlisted for the Birmingham Press Club Feature Writer of the Year in 2006.

He is enjoying settling into his sunny flat in Brussels, drinking cups of tea, listening to The Archers and hoping to find the time and money to travel home occasionally to watch his beloved Watford Football Club.
